Andrew Sommers

Andrew Sommers, 78 of Allentown, PA, journeyed to Heaven on Tuesday, July 19, 2022. Born June 14, 1944 in Coplay, PA, he was the son of the late Jean (Mortimer) Newhart and the late Joseph Sommers.

Andy was a 1962 graduate of Coplay High School who went on to work for the former Durkee Foods, Bethlehem as a supervisor for 25 years until it's closing. He then took a position at Niagara Bottling Co., Bethlehem for 5 years until retiring in 2006. Andrew loved sports and was an avid fan and supporter of the Philadelphia Eagles and Phillies.

He is survived by three sisters, Lorraine Ritter of Whitehall, PA, Diane Loughrey of Chapel Hill, NC and Kimberly D. Newhart wife of David Borrego of Peoria, AZ, along with many nieces and nephews. Andrew was predeceased by a brother, Russell Sommers.

Especially important to Andy were his caring neighbors, Emily and John Forsyth and their children, and Mel and Sheila Moyer.

Services will be private and at the convenience of the family. Schisler Funeral Home, Northampton, PA, has been entrusted with his care and services.
