Anna (Ann) Flora Bauman (Jacoby), age 98, graduate of Wilson High School, passed peacefully with family by her side at Moravian Hall Square, Nazareth, Pennsylvania, on November 23, 2019. She joins her beloved husband of almost 60 years prior to his death, Harrison Milton Bauman Sr. In addition to Harrison, she is predeceased by her mother and father, Burton Brinker and Minnie Eliza Jacoby. She was the eldest of six siblings yet survived them all, of which were sisters Grace Setzer (Willard), Betty Snyder (James), Kay Amerman (Henry), Dorothy Steel (Hank), and brother, John Jacoby, Jr. (Arlene) She is survived by her three loving children, Harrison M. Bauman, Jr. (Donna) of Nazareth Pennsylvania, Sandra A. Haines (Richard) of Mount Holly, New Jersey, and Deborah K. Casey of Bear, Delaware, with whom she lived her last 16 years; her beautiful, strong, and loving five granddaughters, Lori Nester of Dover, Delaware, Allison Frable of Pen Argyl, Pennsylvania, Julie Batenburg (Ted) of Downingtown, Pennsylvania, Becki Haines of Levittown, Pennsylvania, and Patti Ott (Kenneth) of Bel Air, Maryland; and nine great-grandchildren, Cameron and Connor Nester, Dawson and Evan Frable, Caroline Batenburg, Damon and Oliver Betker, and Sydney and Tyson Ott. All will miss her so very much.
It's impossible to summarize her full life in just a paragraph or two, but we will do our best. She will be remembered for her love of life and need to always be doing something, staying busy, and challenging her mind – all the way to the end when she purchased her very own tablet and conquered several computer games. She and Harrison traveled throughout the world (England, France, Switzerland, Brussels, Holland, Austria, Italy) while he was in the U.S. Air Force, with one of their favorite duty stations being Ramstein, Germany. Following both their retirements (hers from Charming Shoppes of Willingboro, New Jersey), they continued to travel whenever possible during which she saw all 50 states, additional European countries (Spain, Portugal, Monaco), Guam, Saipan, as well as just about all the Caribbean islands, Bermuda and Panama on her many cruises with Harrison, friends and family. She loved people and being able to help them, which resulted in volunteering hundreds of hours for hospitals and various organizations – one of them being a life-time member of 70+ years in the Order of the Eastern Star, Chapter #147, in Mount Holly, New Jersey. She loved Broadway shows and had season tickets up to her death at The Playhouse at Rodney Square at DuPont Hotel in Wilmington, Delaware, and saw numerous shows in Lancaster – oh those beautiful Sight and Sound ones! She pursued just about every craft and hobby imaginable (flower arranging, sewing, knitting, jewelry making, crocheting) and activities such as card and game groups, bowling – right-handed/left-handed/Wii, and social clubs. "Walkers and canes are for old people – I'm not giving into them!" were her famous last words, and she could be seen as recently as ten years ago sliding down slides with great-grands and trying out their new scooters at Christmas – and as recent as three years ago riding her adult tricycle throughout her subdivision (The Village of Red Lion Creek in Bear, Delaware). And we can't forget those monthly bus trips to Atlantic City to play those one-armed bandits, as well as her New Year's Eve tradition of dinner and a little gambling at Delaware Park! Can you believe her last cruise was just in April of this year?!! As you can imagine, she was the center of attention on the entire ship by passengers and crew alike!
A private ceremony of her cremains will take place graveside at Forks United Church of Christ at a future date arranged by family. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to Forks United Church of Christ, 4500 Sullivan Trail, Stockertown, Pennsylvania 18083.
She was an inspiration to us all and creates a void that will never be filled. We were so blessed. She brought us joy; we loved her well! Rest in peace Dear Mom, Nana, Great-Nana. See you again one of these days – just not too soon, the Good Lord willing!
