Annie Elizabeth Smith

Annie Elizabeth (Jones) Smith, 100, resident of the Summit, Lehighton, Pennsylvania, for the past 18 months, was called home to the Lord on December 15, 2016. She was surrounded by her family when she passed.
Annie was a long-time resident of the Palmerton and Bowmanstown areas where she and her late husband, Clair Smith, owned and operated the Fireline Hotel, a popular restaurant from 1960-1977. The couple also operated Smitty's French Fries for more than 50 years. She was a member of First United Church of Christ, Palmerton, and a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, #365 Lehighton Lodge. She was predeceased by her husband in 1987, and her eldest son, Ralph, in 2012.
Annie is survived by sons Roger, husband of Jean (Stein) of Walnutport, Ronald, husband of Suzanne (Chamberlin) of Manheim, and a daughter, Ruthann wife of Phillip Gintz of Bowmanstown. 8 grandchildren, Linda DeSousa, Kelly Smith, Donna Snyder, Lisa Fatzinger, all of the Palmerton area, Keith Smith of Bowmanstown, Stephanie Smith of Lancaster, Jason Smith of Elizabethtown, and Steven Gintz of Tamaqua. She has 14 great-grandchildren, and 13 great-great-grandchildren.
Services: 11:00 a.m. Monday, December 19, 2016 at Campton Funeral Home, 525 Delaware Avenue, Palmerton, PA 1071. Call, 10:00-11:00 a.m. Monday in the funeral home. Interment will follow the service, at Towamensing Cemetery, 3rd Street and Fireline Road, Palmerton. A reception by the family will follow interment at St. John's Lutheran Church of Towamensing, Fireline Road, Palmerton. Officiating will be the Rev. Jody L. Neifert.
