Axel W. Gardner, 97 of Whitehall, PA. passed away on Saturday, July 21, 2018, at Whitehall Manor, in Whitehall, PA. Born March 19, 1921 in Allentown, PA, he was the son of the late Axel H. Gardner and the late Amy (Bechtel) Baus-Gardner. He was the husband of the late Virginia R. (Heydt) Gardner who passed away in April of this year.

Axel was employed by Former Bethlehem Steel Corp. as a worker in the Beam Yard for 33 years before retiring in 1980. He was a member of St. John's U.C.C. Church, Mickley's for many years. He was a past member of the American Legion Post #739, Hokendauqua, PA. He served his country as a Corporal in the U.S. Army during World War II.

He is survived by his Son-in-Law; Francis L. Fisher and companion Patricia Steinke; Grandson; Christopher Fisher and wife Jariya of Chiang Mai, Thailand, and 4 Great-Grandchildren; Patricia (Box), May, Logan and Maleeva. He was predeceased by daughter, Patricia Ann Fisher, and sister Joyce Charles.

Visitation will be held from 7:00 PM to 8:30 PM on Wednesday, July 25, 2018, and a Funeral Service with be held at 10:00am Thursday July 26, 2018 both at the Schisler Funeral Home, 2119 Washington Avenue, Northampton, PA 18067. Interment with military honors will follow at Cedar Hill Memorial Park, Allentown, PA.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. John's U.C.C., Mickley's Memorial Fund C/O the funeral home. Family would like to thank Heartland Hospice for their care and compassion during Axel's stay at Whitehall Manor.
