Barbara E. Scherer

Barbara E. (Smith) Scherer , 66, of 57 Drive, Palmerton, Towamensing Twp., PA, died peacefully early Wednesday morning, April 10, 2024, in her home.  She was the wife of Philip D. Scherer since September 14, 1984.  Born in Lehighton, she was a daughter of the late Samuel A. and Fern V. (Beers) Smith.

Barbara and her husband were the owners/operators of the Palmerton Convenient Store, Delaware Avenue, for many years.  Previously, she worked as an office manager for Nanovic Law Office, Jim Thorpe, and the former Palmerton Hospital.  Barbara was a 1975 graduate of the Palmerton High School.

Survivors: Husband.  Daughter, Sheila A. wife of Matthew Reis of Palmerton.  Son, Travis W. Kuntzman of Palmerton.  2 grandchildren, Abigail, and Owen.  Twin sister, Belinda L. wife of Michael Taschler of Palmerton.  Sister, Kathryn wife of Norman Engle of Bowmanstown.  Brother, Jeremy and wife Kimberly Smith of Lehighton.  Several nieces and nephews.  She was predeceased by daughter, Lindsay, infant sister, Melba, and brothers, Michael, and Samuel E.
