Barry A. Wentz, Sr., 74, of Hahn's Dairy Road, Palmerton, Lower Towamensing Township, Pennsylvania, died peacefully Monday afternoon, May 31, 2021, surrounded by his loving family at Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township. He was the husband of Kathryn M. (Nevius) Wentz. Born in Palmerton, he was a son of the late Norton and LaRue (Smale) Wentz.
Barry was employed as a crane operator by the former Bethlehem Steel Corporation. Later, he was employed as an auto mechanic by Hearn's Garage, Palmerton. Barry was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ, Palmerton. An army veteran, Vietnam Era, he served his country with honor and achieved the rank of SGT, and served with the signal corps. Barry was an avid hunter, and fisherman, life member of the Blue Mountain Fish and Game Association, Lehigh Township, and a member of the Bowmanstown Volunteer Fire Company, as well as a member of the American Legion, Palmerton Post. He was a longtime member of the Palmerton Dart League.
Survivors: Wife. Daughter, Tracy wife of Timothy George of Kunkletown. Son, Barry A., Jr. and wife Christine of Palmerton. 3 grandchildren, Tyler George, Alexandrea Wentz, and Tyra Wentz. Great-grandson, Waylon George. Sisters, Vivian wife of Jack Fried of Hellertown, and Delores wife of Colin Solt of Bowmanstown. Brothers, Ronald and wife Sandra of Bowmanstown, Donald and wife Lisa of Palmerton and Michael and companion, Roger Levesque of Warwick, RI. Sisters-in-law, Joanne Vogel of Palmerton, Monique Scott of Allentown. Many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by brother-in-law, Robert Scott in 1994.
Services: Memorial Services, 11:00 a.m., Friday, Campton Funeral Home, 525 Delaware Avenue, Palmerton, PA 18071. Call, 10:00-11:00 a.m., Friday in the funeral home.
