Bernadine Rose Agnew, 79, of Bushkill Township, while surrounded by her family, died peacefully on March 17, 2016 at Moravian Hall Square Nursing Home in Nazareth. Bernadine was the wife and constant companion of her husband, attorney William Agnew, for 58 years. Born in Coplay on August 24, 1936, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Theresa (Schadl) Marx. Bernadine was a graduate of Allentown Central Catholic High School and Kutztown State Teacher''s College. She was a full-time teacher at Asa Packer Elementary School (Easton) and Sleepy Hollow Elementary School (Falls Church, VA), followed by substitute teaching in the Nazareth School District for many years. Bernadine also taught catechism at Holy Family Catholic Church, Nazareth. A devout Christian, Bernadine was active in numerous bible study groups. She enjoyed crossword puzzles, needlepoint, watching Jeopardy and most of all, quality time with her family. Bernadine was a truly committed and loving wife, mother and grandmother, who was extremely charitable towards others. In addition to her husband William, she is survived by two daughters, Bernadine and her husband Donald Kosciusko of Bushkill Township and Christine Herman of Bethlehem; two sons, William of Bethlehem and Mark of Alexandria, VA; sister, Margaret Marx of Whitehall; Five Grandchildren. She was predeceased by three sisters, Celia, Mary and Frieda and three brothers, Charles, Joseph and Francis. Services will be private at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Moravian Hall Square Skilled Nursing Unit or American Cancer Society in care of the funeral home.
