Bernard Madeja

Bernard Madeja, 92 of Whitehall, went to be with his Lord on May 16, 2022 at home, surrounded by his family. He was the son of the late John and Justina Madeya. He was the loving husband of 71 years to Dorothy (Bear) Madeja. Bernard also leaves behind his beloved son, Bernard M. Madeja, and wife Susanne, and daughters, Judith Battenfield and Nancy Lambert.

Bernard honorably served for 2 years in the United States Army. He was a dedicated employee at Bethlehem Steel for 41 years. Bernard was a lifelong member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Whitehall, Pennsylvania. He was also a member and President of the Jednota, Branch 796 in Egypt, PA for 42 years. Bernard lived a full, blessed life and loved working on his farm, hunting and spending time with his family.

Survivors: In addition to his wife and three children, Bernard leaves behind seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren that he adored.

The family will receive friends from 11:00 AM to 12:30 PM on Monday, May 23, 2022, at Schisler Funeral Home, 2119 Washington Avenue, Northampton, PA 18067 followed by an 1:00 PM Mass of Christian Burial at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 4456 Main St. Whitehall, PA 18052. Entombment will be in Assumption B.V.M. Cemetery-Mausoleum, Northampton.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Holy Trinity Catholic Church c/o the funeral home.
