Betty J. Kern

Betty J. Kern, 92 of Walnutport, PA, passed away on Friday, December 24, 2021, at CedarBrook-Fountain Hill Annex in Bethlehem, PA. Born July 30, 1929 in Whitehall, PA, she was the daughter of the late Earl D. Smoyer and Lillian M. (Muth) Smoyer. She was the wife of the late Russel F. Kern who passed away in July 1992.

Betty was last employed as a sewing machine operator for the former Hi- Torque Fashions of Slatington, PA for 5 years before retiring in 1991. Prior to, she worked in the same capacity for ADJ Fashions, Cherryville, PA and the former Scotty's Fashions, Treichlers, PA for many years.

Surviving are son, Darrel F. Kern and wife Tink of Leland, NC, daughters, Ina J. McDonald of Wilmington, NC, Kaye A. Kern of Walnutport, PA, and Tina A. wife of Scott Williams of Overland Park, KS, brother, Lamont Smoyer and wife Izene of Schnecksville, PA; 8 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by son, Terence R. Kern and granddaughter Stacey Kern, both in 2007 and 2 Brothers.

A Funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, December 31, 2021 at Schisler Funeral Home, 2119 Washington Ave. Northampton, PA 18067.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM prior to the service. Interment will follow in Egypt Cemetery, Whitehall, PA.
