Betty A. Silliman

Betty A. Silliman , 76, of Lentz Trail, Jim Thorpe, PA, died peacefully on Wednesday afternoon, September 4, 2024, in the Lehigh Valley Hospital Inpatient Hospice Care, Allentown.  She was employed in the bagging and finishing department of the former Scotty's Fashions Co., and the former DePaulo's Mill, Palmerton, for over 40 years, retiring in 2002.  Born in Palmerton, she was a daughter of the late William J. Sr., and Dorothy Mae (Distler) Silliman.

She was a member of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church of Towamensing, Palmerton.  An active volunteer, Betty was a member of the Lehighton Area Lions Lioness Club.  She enjoyed making and donating lollypops to many children for the LALLC Bunny Lunch and Breakfast with Santa events.  She enjoyed her needle work crafts, gifting to family, friends, and as prizes.

Her volunteering included helping at the Summit Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Lehighton, the American Cancer Society, and also at the Carbon County Fair, Little Gap.  Betty was an avid bingo player, candy maker and baker, and made occasional casino trips.  She was a longtime member of the I.L.G.W.U.

Survivors: Sister, Peggy J. wife of James Hittner of Trachsville.   Two brothers, Edward P., and wife Bonnie, in Indiana, and Robert S. and his wife Alicia, with whom she resided.  Numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.  She was also predeceased by a brother, William J., Jr.
