Candace M. Potak

Candace “Candy” M. Potak, 75 of Northampton, PA, passed away on Monday, July 20, 2026, in her home, with her husband by her side. Born November 3, 1950, in Allentown, PA., she was the daughter of the late James Smith and Ethel Beecher Smith. Candace was the loving wife of Edward R. Potak, with whom she shared 51 years of marriage.

Candace was a graduate of Allen High School, Class of 1968. She began her professional career as a waitress at several local restaurants before finding her niche in the window-cleaning industry. She worked for Roth Window Cleaning for 15 years before realizing her dream of owning her own business. For the past 20 years, she proudly operated Candace Potak Cleaning, building lasting relationships with countless clients throughout the Lehigh Valley who came to appreciate not only the quality of her work, but also her reliability and warm, caring nature.

Outside of work, Candace enjoyed attending classic rock concerts with her husband, Ed, always hoping to be as close to the stage as possible. Yet the greatest joy of her life was her family. She embraced motherhood with unwavering love and devotion, especially as she cared for her daughter through the challenges of living with diabetes from an early age. Her children and grandchildren were the center of her world, and she never hesitated to offer her time, strength, and compassion whenever they were needed. Caring for those she loved was not simply something Candace did-it was who she was, and it remained the guiding purpose of her life.

Candace is survived by her devoted husband, Edward, her children; daughter, Leslie Potak of Northampton, PA and son, Michael Potak and his wife Jenna Potak, along with her grandchildren Joseph Matla and Madison Potak of Danielsville, PA.

There will be a viewing held at 10:00am followed by a Funeral Service celebrating Candace’s life at 11:00am held on July 29, 2026, at Schisler Funeral Home, Northampton, PA 18067, with the Rev. Gary Walbert officiating. We invite all who knew and loved Candace to join us honoring her memory. Interment will follow in Our Lady of Hungary Cemetery, Northampton, PA.
