Carl J. Mathesz

Carl "Carli" J. Mathesz, 96 of Bethlehem, PA, formerly of Northampton and Fullerton, passed away at Lehigh Valley Hospital - Muhlenberg Campus, Bethlehem on Monday, August 9, 2021. Born on February 16, 1925 in Northampton, Carl was a son of the late Michael and Anna (Waller) Mathesz. Carl was the husband of the late Elizabeth (Leanch) Mathesz who passed away Sept. 7, 1989.

He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the United States Army. Carl was employed as a plumber with the Whitehall-Coplay Sewer Authority for 19 years before retiring in 1988. Carl enjoyed dancing, jigsaw puzzles, classic movies, and a good cigar.

He is survived by his long-time friend and caregiver, Clara Kinney and family, of Bethlehem with whom he resided; children, Ronald Mathesz and wife Rosie of Palmerton, PA, Larry Mathesz and wife Wendy of Whitehall, PA, Valerie Mahr, wife of Philip of Catasauqua, PA; grandson, Brad Mathesz and wife Jennifer; great-grandson, Luke Michael and nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by brothers Richard and Michael, and a sister, Anna Nederostek.

A memorial service will be held on Monday, August 16, 2021 at 10:00 AM at Schisler Funeral Home, 2119 Washington Avenue, Northampton, PA 18067. Family and friends may call from 9:00 AM - 10:00 AM prior to the service. Interment with military honors will follow in Our Lady of Hungary Cemetery, Northampton, PA.
