Carl R. Schafer

Carl R. Schafer, 77 of Northampton, PA, passed away on December 15, 2022, at Lehigh Valley Hospital - Cedar Crest in Allentown, PA.

Born Saturday, November 24, 1945 in Allentown, PA, he was the son of the late Carl Shafer and Ellen (Kiechel) Schafer. Carl was the husband of Janet (Martinuzzi) Schafer, with whom he shared shared 55 years of loving marriage.

Carl graduated from Liberty High school in 1964 and then went to LCCC to earn an associates degree in Applied Science. He was then employed by Mack Trucks, working his way up to Warranty Management, before retiring with over 30 years of service in 2009. He then went on to work with First Student, Inc., where he was a School Bus driver and monitor. In Carl's free time he devoted over 40 years to the East Allen Township Fire Co. He held the titles of Lieutenant, Assistant Chief and Fire Police Chief during his time there. With his love of NASCAR, and fire background, he had the opportunity to work with the fire crews during the Nazareth and Pocono races for a number of years. Carl enjoyed hunting, Hamm Radio, watching the Eagles play, and frequent visits to the Raccoon Club with friends.

Surviving along with his wife, daughters, Angela Schafer of Bethlehem, PA and Christine Schafer of Northampton, PA, Grandchildren, Gianna Dinh, Olivia Reed, Sophia and Christian Hutchens, brother, Terry Schafer and wife Michelle of Whitehall, PA, cousin Rodell Billheimer and wife Cindy of FL, and Sylvia Jane and Frank Hahn of Bethlehem PA, and his canine companions Franky and Turk. He was predeceased by brother, Donald Schafer.

A Funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday December 22, with a visitation prior at 10:00 AM at Schisler Funeral Home, 2119 Washington Ave. Northampton, PA 18067 with the Rev. Terrence M. Walsh officiating. Interment will follow at Schoenersville Cemetery, Allentown, PA.
