Charles E. Hinkle, Jr., 87, of Hill Street, Slatington, died peacefully early Tuesday morning, January 20, 2026, in his home. He was the husband of Mrs. Lorraine D. (Rice) Hinkle since April 15, 1961. Born in Allentown, he was a son of the late Charles E., Sr. and Emma C.R. (Knappenberger) Hinkle.

Charles was employed as furnace operator/general laborer for the former NJ Zinc Co., East Plant, Palmerton. He was a member of Christ United Church of Christ, Walnutport. An avid fisherman and hunter, Charles was a life member of the Slatington Skeet Club, and the Slatington Senior Group. Over the years he enjoyed motorcycling, biking, walking and spending time outdoors. He was a 1956 graduate of the former Slatington High School, later serving in the Army, Vietnam Era, achieving rank of PFC E3.

Survivors: wife. daughter, Connie L. wife of Brent Berger of Slatington. son, Charles E., III and wife Jody of Slatington. 2 granddaughters, Shana wife of Donald Dimmick, Sr., and Amy. great grandson, Donald Dimmick, Jr. sister, sister, Joan Serfass of Palmerton. nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by brothers, Robert, Ronald, and David.
