Charles J. Hower, Sr. , 85, of Nazareth, PA, passed away Monday, August 26, 2024, at Lehigh Valley Hospital. Born in Pen Argyl, PA, on March 4, 1939, Charles was the son of the late John and Kathryn (Cammareri) Hower.
After graduating from Bangor High School in 1957, Charles went on to serve in the U.S. Marine Corps. Following his military service, in 1964, he began working for Bethlehem Steel, where he remained for over 30 years. Charles also served as a Pennsylvania State Constable for over 25 years, something he was very proud of.
In his free time, he was an avid trumpet player and spent years playing and marching in parades with the Bangor Yellow Jackets Drum & Bugle Corps and the Wind Gap Blue Eagles Alumni Drum and Bugle Corps. Charles enjoyed spending time with family discussing various topics, time with his dogs, playing quoits, and making quoit boards. He liked to tease, but could take it as well as he could dish it out and was a good sport who liked to laugh. Though he will be greatly missed, his family takes comfort in knowing that because of his belief in Jesus Christ, he's now in heaven with the Lord.
