, 74 of Treichlers, Pennsylvania, died Tuesday, September 5, 2017, at Lehigh Valley Hospital Health Network- Hospice, Cedar Crest Blvd., Allentown, PA. Born May 9, 1943 in Albany Twsp., Berks Co., PA, he was the son of the late Charles M. and Ida R. (Correll) Wechsler. He was the husband of Barbara A. (Lagler) Wechsler with whom he shared 53 years of marriage this past March 14, 2017.
Charles was last employed by Ingersoll-Rand Corp., Allentown, PA. responsible for transportation and distribution of products for 30 years before retiring in 1993. He was a member of Faith Evangelical Lutheran church, Whitehall, PA. He was a volunteer Firefighter for over 53 years with the Laurys Station Volunteer Fire Co. #1, were he also served as a former Captain and former Assistant Chief. Charles has also held a Trustee position at the fire Co. for over 33 years. He served his country honorably in the U.S. Army as a Specialist 4 grade, during the Vietnam War.
Survivors: Surviving along with his wife Barbara, are daughter, Kimberly A. Wechsler of Treichlers, PA, brothers, Robert D. Wechsler and Edward Wechsler and wife LeAnn both of Walnutport, PA, sister, Mary Jane Franya of Lehighton, PA; 2 Aunts; Alice and Eva; Sister-in-law; Linda Youngblood and husband Carl; Aunt-in-law; Sandra Heintzelman and husband James. Many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was predeceased by a brother, Alan and a sister, Teresa Fisher.
Services: A Funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday September 9, 2017 at Faith Evangelical Lutheran Church, 3355 MacArthur Road Whitehall, PA. 18052. The family will receive friends from 7:00 PM to 8:30 PM on Friday, September 8, 2017, at Schisler Funeral Home, Inc., 2119 Washington Ave., Northampton, PA. 18067. and Saturday September 9, 2017 from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. prior to the services in the church. Interment with military and Fireman honors will follow in Fairview Cemetery, Northampton, PA.
Contributions: May be made in his memory to Laury's Station Volunteer Fire Co. #1 or St. Jude's Children Research Hospital both C/O the
funeral home.
