Daina Zenta Tsurumaki , 92, formerly of Fort Washington, Maryland, passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 2, 2025, at Abington Manor at Morgan Hill in Easton, Pennsylvania.

Born December 4, 1932, in Liepāja, Latvia, she was the daughter of the late Kristaps and Alise Valters and wife of the late Toshi Tsurumaki. Her family was forced to flee Latvia during World War II and eventually made their way to the United States via Ellis Island.  Daina graduated from St. Olaf's College in Northfield, Minnesota with her B.S. Chemistry degree and then attended the Woman's Medical College of Philadelphia where she graduated with her medical doctorate.

Daina was a Medical Doctor and anesthesiologist who served her residency at Washington Medical Center, Washington, D.C.  She married Toshi Tsurumaki, a general surgeon, in 1960.  Daina was a founding member of St. Paul's Moravian Church, Upper Marlboro, MD.

She is survived by her sons, Chris Tsurumaki and partner Christine King of Nazareth, PA and Marc Tsurumaki and wife Carmen Lenzi of New York City, grandchildren, Erik, Emily, Kai, and Lucia, nieces, and nephews, Vilnis, Kristen, Alise, Rick Jr., and Kate-Robin. She was predeceased by brother, Kristaps Valters, and sister, Ruta Shuart.

In addition to being a loving wife, mother, grandmother and aunt, Daina was an avid reader, enjoyed bowling with neighborhood leagues , cheering on her favorite sports teams, and her many pets. Daina brought a smile to all she met with her kind and gentle personality.

A Graveside Service at the Latvian Memorial Park, Tannersville, NY will be announced at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association in care of the Bartholomew-Schisler Funeral Home, 211 East Center Street, Nazareth, PA 18064.
