David L. Odenwelder

David L. Odenwelder , 88 of Northampton, PA, passed away suddenly on Tuesday, November 19, 2024, at Lehigh Valley Hospital - Muhlenberg campus in Bethlehem, PA, after being stricken at home. Born August 26, 1936, in Northampton- Allen Twsp., PA, he was the son of the late Elmer Odenwelder and the late Lottie (Hess) Odenwelder. He was the husband of Mary Ann (Specht) Odenwelder with whom he shared 65 years of marriage this past June 20, 2024.

David was Founder, Owner, and Operator of Dave's Vaccums, Allentown, PA for many years. After turning over the leadership to son, Jeffrey, he continued to work part time for several years until fully retiring in 2019 with a total of 58 years of service to his customers. David was a 33 year F.& A.M. with Chapman Lodge #637 and member of Siegfried Royal Arch Chapter #295 both of Northampton, PA. He enjoyed spending time with his family at their shore home in Delaware. He was an avid fisherman and hunter enjoying the years in Potter County. He loved to ride his Bicycle, spend time growing his tomato plants, and was proud of his PA Dutch Heritage that he often shared with his family and friends. David always cheered for his favorite football team the Philadelphia Eagles. He was proud to have served his country in the US Army during the Korean war.

Surviving along with his wife Mary Ann are daughters, Sandra L. Odenwelder of Catasauqua, PA and Lori Ann wife of Stephan Tsirlemes of Bernville, PA, sons, Jeffrey D. Odenwelder and Jon D. Odenwelder both of Northampton, PA, 10 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by 2 brothers, Kenny and Phillip, and a sister, Verna Koehler.

A Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 23, 2024 at Schisler Funeral Home, 2119 Washington Ave. Northampton, PA 18067. The family will receive friends from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. prior to the services.  Interment with military honors will follow in Greenwood Cemetery, Allen Twsp., Northampton, PA.
