David R. Phillips, 84, of Palmer House, Palmerton, Pennsylvania, died peacefully on Monday afternoon, August 8, 2016, at Blue Mountain Health Systems, Palmerton Campus. He was the husband of Maryann L. (Behler) Phillips. Born in Slatington, he was a son of the late Thomas Phillips and Pearl (Haydt) Phillips-Handwerk.
David was employed by Sears and Roebuck Corporation, Whitehall, as a sales clerk in the hardware department, retiring in 1993. He attended Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, Bowmanstown, and was a 1949 graduate of the Palmerton High School.
Survivors: Wife, Maryann. Sisters, Marlene Watson of West Chester, Joyce Keiser of Lehighton. Brother, Jake Handwerk of Palmerton. Several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by sisters, Eleanor, Marie, Maryjane, and LaRue, and brothers, Roy, and Llewelyn.
Services: Graveside Services at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, August 27, 2016, at Trinity Lutheran Cemetery, Fireline Road, Bowmanstown, PA 18030. Officiating will be the Rev. Denton R. Kees.
