Dawn F. (Male) Hiester, 83, of Wind Gap, PA, passed away on Monday, May 17, 2021 at St. Luke's Hospital-Monroe campus, Stroudsburg, PA. Born Thursday, April 14, 1938 in Belfast, PA, she was the daughter of the late Lewis Male and the late Kathryn (Leigh) Male. She was the wife of James Hiester.

Dawn, her name means early morning light, and Oh, what a beautiful light she was! Blessed are all who felt her ray of love and compassion, that filled her beautiful spirit. Generous to a fault, she just jumped right in to help ease anyone suffering. Be it a touch, a bandaid, a meal, a bed, a loan, a family member suffering a stroke or a church member suffering a heart attack.

Growing up, she loved to have fun, liked to ice skate, go dancing and became an excellent cook- most notably her pig stomach, nut tossies, German chocolate cake and her famous donuts for Fasnacht Day.

She loved to travel, especially to follow The Statler Brothers through Opryland, Dollywood, Branson and Gatlinsburg.  She loved Hawaii, Florida and going to Canada to visit her daughter, Kathy and two granddaughters there. During her travels, she loved picking up dolls for her collection, anything Goofy related, and no matter where she went, getting souvenirs for everybody. She was also famous for her handmade Christmas stockings. Every family member or dear friend was blessed with one of her stockings though the past fifty years.

Her greatest pride and joy of all though, was being a mom to her four kids, grandchildren and many great-grandchildren. She volunteered as their Girl Scout Leader while living in Bethlehem and spent many years as a Sunday School Teacher. She taught the most valuable lesson of unconditional love, compassion for all and return no man evil for evil. She was the most gentle of spirits.  She opened her home and heart to many siblings, friends and kids who needed a refuge for awhile. Her joy was spoiling all she knew with love, kindness, joy, a beautiful smile and eyes that lit up the moment she saw you. With the passing of our mom, Dawn, we can truly say, another ray of sunshine is gone. But oh, what precious memories she has left us with.

Surviving along with her husband, Daughter, Laurie D. Everett, wife of Rodney, of Effort, PA, Daughter, Kathy Ann Moser, of Saskatchewan, CA, Son, Brian L. Moser and fiance, Paula Cuchran of Northampton, PA, Brother, Jeff and wife Sue Male, of Nazareth, PA, Sister, Debbie Schaffer, wife of Ron, of Bethlehem, PA, Sister, Brenda Leigh, of Northampton, PA, Fifteen Grandchildren and Eighteen Great-Grandchildren.
