Deborah K. (Meinhart) Higgs, 61, of Hartranft Lane, Lehighton, East Penn Township, Pennsylvania, died Sunday evening, November 6, 2016 at Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township, Allentown. Born in Coaldale, Schuylkill County, she was a daughter of the late Kermit and Pauline (Smith) Strohl.
Deborah was employed by various medical offices as a transcriptionist and later worked as a certified nursing aide. She was a member of the Lehighton Bible Church. She cared for and helped the homeless, stray animals, and was proficient in sign language for the deaf. Deborah enjoyed theater acting/performing, and writing poetry, even being published at one time.
Survivors: Daughter, Angela wife of Christian Doocey of Allentown. 4 grandchildren, Sydney, Gavin, Blaine, Ethan. Sisters, Donna L. wife of Herb Pfeiffer with whom she resided. Dorothy Meinhart of Lehighton. Brothers, Dennis and wife Virginia Schlier of Colorado, Kenneth Meinhart of Slatington, Ricky and wife Birgit Meinhart of Washington. She was predeceased by sister, Diane Flynn.
