Dianne A. Smith-Kmieczak, 72 of Bath, PA. passed away surrounded by her loving family on Sunday, September 23, 2018, at her home after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Born May 29, 1946 in Bethlehem, PA, she was the daughter of the late Elmer O. Kist and the late Dorothy H. (Hess) Kist. Dianne was predeceased by her husband of 35 years, James P. Smith. She was the wife of Donald N. Kmieczak with whom she shared 13 years of marriage last November 30, 2017.

Dianne was a 1964 graduate of Northampton High School and was self-employed as Bookkeeper for 35 years for James P. Smith Plastering and Stucco. She then was Owner and Operator of The Barn House Village and Restaurant, Bath for 12 years. A member of St. James Lutheran Church, Coopersburg, PA. where she was a member of the Celebration Choir, and active with the Congregational Council where she served as council secretary. Dianne volunteered many hours to many groups and individuals, serving as a 4-H Leader, teaching piano, a Girl Scout Leader for 25 years and Church Organist for various churches. She enjoyed playing piano, making quilts, snow skiing, water skiing and traveling. Most importantly, she treasured her time spent with children, grandchildren, and family.

Surviving along with her husband Donald are daughters, JoAnn L. Stivala of Bethlehem, Deanna L., wife of Michael Kohler of Nazareth, PA, brother, Robert P. Kist and wife Barbara of Jesup, GA; 2-step-daughters, Kimberly M., wife of Paul Hellerick of Coopersburg, PA and Jennifer L., wife of Marc Mizrachy of Hillsborough, N.J., step-son, Keith J. and wife Lanee Kmieczak of Leola, PA, 5 grandchildren and 6 step-grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday, September 28, 2018 at St. James Lutheran Church located at 333 E. Oxford Street Coopersburg, PA.18036. The family will receive friends from 7:00 PM to 8:30 PM on Thursday, September 27, 2018, at Schisler Funeral Home, Inc. , 2119 Washington Ave., Northampton, PA and 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM in the church prior to the service on Friday. Interment will be in St. Peter's U.C.C. Ch. Cemetery (Formerly Snyder's Church Cem.), Northampton, PA.

Memorial contributions may be made to JDRF (Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation) C/O the funeral home.
