Doris M. Daumer

Doris M. Daumer, 94 of Whitehall, PA. formerly of Northampton passed away on Friday, March 16, 2018, at Fellowship Community in Whitehall. Born December 15, 1923 in Allentown, she was the daughter of the late Robert H. and the late Helen E. (Kipp) Ackerman. Doris was a 1941 graduate of Allentown High School and was the class Statistician for 31 years. She continued her education at the former Haff Hospital School of Nursing in Northampton earning her L.P.N Degree in 1944. She worked as a L.P.N. for 23 years at the former Allentown Osteopathic Hospital, Allentown until retiring in 1985. She was a member of Grace U.C.C. Church, Northampton. Doris was very active in her community serving as an Ambulance Attendant of the American Legion Ambulance Corp in 1965. She served as a nurse for the Northampton Fire Police, and was a special policewoman for the Borough for many years. She was a member and past President of the Northampton Historical Society in 1976, and served as former secretary for years. She was secretary for the Northampton Borough Diamond Jubilee from 1973-1976. Doris was also the recipient of the Northampton Exchange Club's Golden Deeds Award in 1985 and an Inductee in the Chapel of the four Chaplains in the early 90's.
Surviving are son, Robert E. Daumer and wife Cheryl of Northampton, PA; daughter, Janis L., wife of George Chabak of Birdsboro, PA; 3 grandchildren, Russell and wife Stephanie, David and wife Marcia, and Amy; 3 great-grandchildren, Damian, Scarlett, and Elijah and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by sister, Joyce M. Mourat.
A Funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Monday March 26, 2018 at Grace United Church of Christ, 9th & Lincoln Avenue Northampton, PA. 18067 with the Rev. Heather Kurtz officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM prior to the services. Interment will follow in Allen Union Cemetery Association, Northampton, PA. Schisler Funeral home, 2119 Washington Ave. Northampton, PA. has been entrusted with the services.
