Doris M. Howell-Thamarus

Doris M. (Christman) Howell-Thamarus , 82, of Little Gap Road, Palmerton, Lower Towamensing Twp., PA, died peacefully Sunday morning, September 1, 2024, in her home.  She was the wife of Francis W. Thamarus since June 22, 1996.  Born in Palmerton, she was a daughter of the late Charles F. and Marie A. (Strohl) Christman.

Doris was employed as a nurse's aide and unit secretary for the former Palmerton Hospital over 30 years.  She attended Jerusalem United Church of Christ, Trachsville.  Doris was a 1959 graduate of the SS Palmer High School.  She was a member of the Aquashicola Vol. Fire Co., Auxiliary, and former girl Scout Leader at the Little Gap Grange.  Doris enjoyed camping at Knoebels Amusement Resort and also in Lancaster.

Survivors: Husband.  Children, Scott and wife Brandy Christman, Jane wife of Brian Dillman, all of Palmerton, Kim Christman of Whitehall, and Terry wife of Nick Digilio of Nesquehoning. Stepchildren, Kevin and wife Jom Thamarus of the Netherlands, James Thamarus of Salisbury Twp., and Christopher and wife Annette Thamarus of Jim Thorpe, and Susan wife of Nathan White of Thornhurst Twp., Lackawanna County.  Several grandchildren, step-grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.  Sister, Charlene Miller of White Haven.  She was predeceased by husband, Harold M. Howell in 1970, an infant son in 1969, and a sister, Pauline Hinkel.
