Doris Mae Shireman

Doris Mae (Hess) Shireman, 97 of Nazareth, PA formerly of Northampton, PA died on Wednesday, December 1, 2021, at St. Luke's Hospital - Anderson Campus in Easton, PA. Born September 11, 1924 in Northampton, PA. she was the daughter of the late Leon H. Hess and the late Mazie H. (Dech) Hess. She was the wife of the late Paul W. Shireman who passed away in November 2009.

Doris was a 1942 Graduate of Northampton High School who continued her education and earned her teaching credentials from Kutztown State Teachers College in 1945. She started her teaching career as an Elementary Teacher for the Telford Area School District then transferred to the Catasauqua School District for 37 years before retiring in 1982. Doris was a life member of St. John's U.C.C. Church, Howertown where she taught Sunday school, Bible school, and helped with many programs. She was a member of the CEA, NEA, and life member of the PSEA. She earned the title of Master Teacher and appeared as a panelist on the former ch 39 TV.

Surviving are sister, Mrs. Mary A. Smith of Bath, PA; Brother-in-law, Guy Martin, Long Beach, CA. Step-daughter, Mindy wife of Thomas Lees of E. Palmer Twsp., PA, Two Step-grandsons, John-Paul and Brian, and nephews Clark III, Donald, and niece Kathy along with nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother, Donald Hess and sister Nancy Martin.

A Funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday December 10, 2021 at Schisler Funeral Home, 2119 Washington Ave. Northampton, PA. The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM prior to the service. Interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery, Northampton, PA.
