Doris J. Stiner NEE: Underhill , 94, passed into eternal glory on October 11, 2022, joining her husband Glenn and daughter Karen. Doris was born January 1, 1928, to Alfred and Florence Underhill, and later stepmother Nina Underhill, in Wilson, NY, where she lived in the Methodist Parsonage. She gave this credit for her open and welcoming nature, as she always recognized everyone, regardless of race, creed, or sexual orientation, as a beloved child of God. She carried this sense of compassion into her chosen career as a nurse, which she started operating room and recovery ward in Rochester, NY. She later moved to working with the Red Cross Blood Mobile during the Korean War. Music and singing were her passion; she was a strong alto in Camp Hill United Methodist Church's Sanctuary Choir for many years as well as the Mechanicsburg Ecumenical Choir and was thrilled when her grandchildren also began singing. She enjoyed reading (often several books a day) and watching British mystery shows with her family. She is survived by daughter Dr. Carol Kish NEE: Stiner and her husband Dr. Peter A. Kish, grandchildren, Emily Merkel NEE: Kish and Peter S. Kish, and their partners. Great-grandchild, Aislin Kish. She also leaves behind multiple cats and a distraught beagle. She will be missed by all, whether two-legged or four-legged, who knew her.
