Dorothea L. Barczy

Dorothea L. Barczy , 98, of Northampton, PA, passed away on April 16, 2024. Born in Fullerton, PA, she was the daughter of the late Lilian (Novak) Finer and stepfather Norman Finer. She was the wife of the late Joseph Barczy Sr.

Dorothea attended St. Mary's Parochial school for 8 years and and then went on to graduate from Central Catholic High School. While there, she was a member of the Verse Speaking Choir and drama club. After graduating, she worked at Hood Manufacturing in Allentown for a number of years. Later on, her and husband Joseph bought a hotel, which was called "The Little Brown Jug" in Catasauqua and ran it for 14 years. After the business was sold, she worked at the Allentown Hospital School of Nursing for 10 years before retiring.

She is survived by granddaughter Samantha Barczy-Long, and husband Matthew, and great-granddaughter Caroline Long. She is predeceased by her husband Joseph Barczy Sr., son, Joseph Barczy Jr., and daughter-in-law, Carol Barczy.

Services: The family will receive relatives and friends from 11:00AM to 12:00PM on Friday, April 19, 2024, followed by a Funeral Service at 12:00PM, at Schisler Funeral Home, 2119 Washington Ave., Northampton, PA, 18067. Interment will follow at St. Mary's R.C. Church Cemetery, Catasauqua, PA.

Memorial Contributions may be made in her memory to the LHVN Cancer Institute, care of the funeral home.
