Rev. Douglas A. Archer, Sr.

Rev. Douglas A. Archer, Sr., 78, of Mahoning Mountain Road, East Penn Township, Lehighton, Pennsylvania, died Wednesday afternoon, August 17, 2016, at St. Luke's Hospital, Fountain Hill. He was the husband of Venetia E. (Danner) Archer since February 7, 1959. Born in Menominee Falls, WI, he was a son of the late Clarence and Grace (Sorenson) Archer.
Douglas was employed in general labor for the Sladedale Quarry, Washington Township, for over 25 years, retiring in 2004. He was a member of Bethany EC Church, Lehighton. Douglas served in the US Navy, Peacetime, achieving the rank of AN. After his naval service, he was part of the Hells Angels MC, California, later becoming an ordained Evangelical Minister, running the Yoke Fellowship Prison Ministry, Jim Thorpe, PA for over 22 years. He enjoyed southern gospel singing, and volunteered at the Twin Pines Church Camp, Monroe County.
Survivors: Wife, Venetia. Daughters, Jenice L. Frehulfer of West Haven, CT, and Carla J. of Randy Sizemore of Dixon, IL. Sons, Mark A. and wife Susan of Salem, MO, and Douglas A., Jr. and wife Erin of Effort, PA. 15 grandchildren. 9 great-grandchildren. Sisters, Corrine Omurwa of Sacramento, CA, and Pat wife of John Johnson of Grass Valley, CA. Several nieces and nephews.
