E. Albert Boyer, Jr. (Al) 89, passed away on March 4, 2022. He was born in Northampton, PA, the son of E. Albert Boyer, Sr. and Dora (Newhart) Boyer. Al was the husband of Carol (Schuessler) Boyer; they would have been married 34 years in April.

Al attended Northampton High School, class of 1951, where he was the football manager for Al Erdosy and the basketball manager for Pete Schneider.   After graduation, he followed his growing interest in photography by going to R.I.T. (Rochester Institute of Technology) in Rochester, New York.

He then enlisted in the U.S Air Force, serving for four years during the Korean War era.

Upon returning, Al was employed by the photo lab in the Advertising Department of Bethlehem Steel.  He also found employment in various other photo labs, and early on in his work life, he was a wedding photographer.

Anybody who knew Al (also known as "Piffy" Boyer) realized what a kind and caring person he was. He was, indeed, one of the "good guys."  He also was a 32nd degree Mason.

Traveling was in his blood...both while in the Air Force and with Carol.  They especially enjoyed their cruises, their honeymoon in Acapulco, and their trip to Germany, where he was her own personal tour guide.  He also made her dream of going to Paris and going up the Eiffel Tower come true.

Other interests included golf, volleyball, and Pinochle (where he played three-handed and ganged up with his brother Tommy against a very frustrated wife).  Al was known for a very special talent...he could fall asleep anywhere.  That included the dentist chair, not to mention shortly after his wedding luncheon...!

Albert will be greatly missed by his wife, Carol, his two sons, E. Albert Boyer, III, Easton, and Scott (Lucy) Boyer), Laurys Station, granddaughters Avery and Michaela Boyer, sister Joanne (Donald) Christman of Midlothian, VA and brother Tom (Diane) of Wilmington, NC, and sister-in-law Leone (Murray) Stewart of Toledo, OH.  Other survivors include beloved nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, cousins, and friends.

The family would like to thank staff members of Whitehall Manor and Saucon Valley Manor and Family Pillars Hospice for providing good care for Albert.

The viewing will be held March 11 from 10 to 11 at the Schisler Funeral Home, 2119 Washington Avenue, Northampton.  We respectfully request the wearing of face masks.  Contributions, if so desired, may be made to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research, Attn.: Donation Processing, P. O. Box 5014, Hagerstown, MD  21741-5014 or Grace United Church of Christ, 902 Lincoln Ave., Northampton, PA 18067.
