Edgar E. L. Silfies, Jr.

Edgar E.L. Silfies, Jr., 96 of Northampton, PA passed away on Thursday, October 4, 2018, at Moravian Village in Bethlehem, PA. Born October 8, 1921 in Allentown, PA, he was the son of the late Edgar E.L. Silfies, Sr. and the late Helen (Grow) Silfies. He was the husband of the late Loretta June (Andrews) Silfies who passed away in 2010.

Edgar was employed as a Supervisor of Packaging at Universal Atlas Cement Co in Northampton for 40 years before retiring in 1980. He attended Grace United Church of Christ in Northampton. He was a member and active helper of the Northampton Food Bank and a former member of the Board of Directors of the Lehigh Valley Traffic Club. Edgar served his country honorably in the Army during World War II.

Surviving are sons, David D. Silfies and wife Janice of Allentown, PA, Timothy Silfies and wife Laurie of Pittsburg, PA and Todd E. Silfies of Saylorsburg, PA, brother, William H. Silfies of Allentown, PA, 7 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by daughter, Cynthia Joan Kline in 2005.

A Memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, October 8, 2018 at Schisler Funeral Home, located at 2119 Washington Ave. Northampton, PA 18067. The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM prior to the services in the funeral home. Interment with military honors will follow at St. John's Union Cemetery in Whitehall.
