Eileen E. Arlin
, formerly of Farmingdale, NY, relocated to Mendon VT, and then to PA in 2008, passed on Sunday, August 6, 2017, at her residence in Whitehall, PA, after a courageous fight with lung cancer. She was the daughter of the late John W. and May (Vaughan) Shiel.
She was employed by Long Island Trust Co. as a secretary and Bethpage Federal Credit Union as a member services officer. After relocating to Vermont in 1980, she owned and operated Joleen's Bath and Linen Shoppe with her husband John Arlin. She was later employed by Chittenden Bank as an account representative and The Meadows and Gables at East Mountain as an administrative assistant until she retired in August, 2008. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary post 31 for 28 years in Rutland, VT, past President of the Rutland Emblem Club (Lo Elks), past state President of the Supreme Emblem Club of the United States of America (Lo Elks) and a member of Christ the King Roman Catholic Church in Rutland, VT. She enjoyed skiing, bowling, oil painting, and the love of family and friends. Beloved Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother, Sister, Aunt and Friend. She will be greatly missed but will live in our hearts forever.

She is survived by 3 children: Jeanine Gilson and husband Robert of Catasauqua, PA; Patrick Summers and wife Beatrice of Deposit, NY and Cheryl Stebe and husband Don of N. Babylon, NY, Daughter-in-law Eileen Summers of Lake George, NY; sister, Maureen Dzur (Walter) of Georgetown, DE. Four grandchildren; Heather Hawley and husband Doug, Slatington, PA; Patrick Joe and Elijah Summers of Deposit NY and Cheryl Ann Stebe of N. Babaylon, NY. Three great-grandchildren; William and Daniel Hawley, Arianna Stebe-Como. Many nieces, nephews, and friends. She was predeceased by husband, John Arlin; son, William Summers; brother, James Shiel; grandsons, Robert S. Gilson, IV and Michael Stebe and former spouse, Alfred Summers, Jr.
Services:
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30am on Friday August 11, 2017 at St. Peter's Roman Catholic Church, 4 South Fifth Street Coplay, PA. 18037. followed by Interment at Cedar Hill Memorial Park, Allentown, PA. The family will receive friends from 7:00 PM to 8:30 PM on Thursday, August 10, 2017, and Friday August 11, 2017 from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM both at Schisler Funeral Home, 2119 Washington Ave., Northampton, PA. 18067.
