Elaine R. Brosious-Domitrovits, 85 of Neffs, PA. died Saturday, February 18, 2017, at Above & Beyond Senior Living in Allentown, PA. Born September 8, 1931 in Springtown, PA, she was the daughter of the late Stanley and Edna (Mease) Smith. She was the wife of the late Daniel Robert Brosious and the late Joseph Domitrovits.
Elaine retired from St. Luke's Hospital, Bethlehem in 1985, having worked in the Accounting Department for 17 years. While in Bethlehem, she was an active member of Bethany UCC, volunteering her time within the church and as a former Consistory member. She also served as a Girl Scout Leader, and was active in Bethlehem politics, advocating for the West Side Pool and Park. She and her husband Dan were active parents at Calypso Elementary, where she was a former member of the Calypso Elementary PTA. Even with six small children at home, they took in "Fresh Air Kids" from New York City. Elaine was also an active supporter of the Liberty High School Band for many years.
After her retirement, Elaine earned an Early Childhood Education degree from Northampton Community College and worked as a professional nanny for several families throughout Lehigh and Berks counties. She subsequently moved to Center Valley, Blandon, and she resided most recently in Neffs where she was a member of Union United Church of Christ. At Union UCC, she was active in both the Knit-Wits Knitting Group and the Quilters group. While spending time in Arizona with her daughter, she became active with the Lutheran Church there, volunteering and being active with their Quilter's Guild. Elaine volunteered and assisted with voter registration for Lehigh County for over 20 years and volunteered for Meals on Wheels serving both Lehigh and Berks counties.
Elaine took much pride and fulfilled a promise to her first husband when she became a widow at 39 years of age, that her six children would all attend college.
Surviving are 5 daughters; Elise wife of James Kramer of Cape Coral, FL and their children, Samantha, James, Avery, and Jordon; Elaine Brosious-Henson of San Diego, CA, and daughters, Heidi, and Hanna; Ellen wife of Greg Lansberry of Bethlehem, PA, and step-son Joshua; Elena wife of Mark Steidinger of Germansville, PA and children, Benjamin, Jacob, and Josephine; Emily wife of John Forsyth, III of Allentown, PA, and their children, John IV, Danielle, and Connor; sisters, Mrs. Virginia Shollenberg of Breinigsville, PA, and Mrs. Ellen James of Quakertown, PA, brother, James Smith and wife Sue of Bethlehem, PA; 4 great grandchildren; Matthew, Hunter, Xavier, and Aurora. She was predeceased by a son, David Brosious in 2004 and brothers, Richard and Gerald "Whitey" Smith.
A Funeral Service will be held at 11:30 AM on Friday February 24, 2017 at Union United Church of Christ, 550 Route 873 Neffs, PA. 18065 with the Rev. Kris P. Snyder-Samuelson officiating. The family will receive friends and family from 7:00 PM to 8:30 PM on Thursday, February 23, 2017, at Schisler Funeral Home, 2119 Washington Avenue, Northampton, PA. 18067, and Friday, February 24. 2017 from 10:30am to 11:30am prior to the services in the church. Interment will follow in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Springfield Township, PA.
