Ellen L. Kresge

Ellen L. (Kunkle) Kresge , 78, of Interchange Road, Lehighton, Towamensing Twp., PA, died peacefully late Wednesday evening, July 31, 2024, at Gracedale County Home, Nazareth. Born in Weissport, she was a daughter of the late Clarence Kunkle and Sally (Behler) Smith, and raised by her Dad, the late Lewis A.D. Smith, Sr.

Ellen was employed as a health aide by Fitzmaurice Community Services, Stroudsburg, and also volunteered in County Foster Care, Lehighton. She enjoyed spending time with family especially at Christmas time, baking  her top secret Christmas cookies. Ellen also enjoyed camping, fishing, gardening, shopping, eating sweets, especially banana splits, caring for her dog, Lacey, and her bird, Pretty Girl.

Survivors : Daughters, Nancy wife of James Hoover, Theresa wife of Brian Freeby, all of Lehighton, and Donna wife of Steve Schoch of Palmerton. Son, Donald N., Jr. and wife Christine Kresge of Nazareth. 8 grandchildren, Steven, Lucas and wife Destiny, Adam, Justin and wife Caitlin, Theresa, Derek, Nicholas, and John. 3 great grandchildren, Kaylie, Jacob, and Ian. Sisters, Helen Heffelfinger of Walnutport, Carrie Bauer of Danielsville, and Betty Lou Konek of Lehighton. Brothers, Larry Smith, and Lewis A.D. Smith, Jr., both of Lehighton. Numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, daughter, Bonnie Kay Kresge, and a sister, Nancy Anthony.

Services : A small private graveside service is going to be held at a later date. Interment, Trinity Lutheran Cemetery, Fireline Road, Bowmanstown. Arrangements, Campton Funeral Home, Palmerton.
