Elmer H. Reed

Elmer H. Reed , 85, of Palmerton, passed away on Saturday, November 23, 2019, at Summit at Blue Mountain Health Systems in Lehighton.  Born on March 18, 1934, in Franklin Township, he was the son of the late Elmer and Elizabeth (Schlaugh) Reed, and, husband of the late Florence G. (Wentz) Reed.

He worked as a clerk for the railroad of the Bethlehem Steel Company for 34 years, until retiring in 1990.  He loved to travel, especially to Florida, and he enjoyed hunting and fishing.

Survivors: Daughters, Lauren J. Devlin of Lehighton, Lois A. Woodcock of Erial, NJ, and Beverly E. Helmer of Lehighton.  Sister, Judy wife of Joseph Castanova of VA.  5 grandchildren and 1 great-granddaughter. He was predeceased by son, Jeffrey Reed, brother, John Reed, sister, Dolores Solt, and a grandson, David.

Services: The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m., followed by a 12:00 p.m. Memorial Service at the Miller Funeral Home, 137 Fairview Street, Lehighton, PA 18235, on Saturday, November 30, 2019.  Online Condolences may be left for the family at: www.schislerfuneralhomes.com .
