Emery E. Parkkila , 94, of Old Bethlehem Pike, Center Valley, Upper Saucon Township, formerly of Lafayette Avenue, Palmerton, PA, died peacefully Thursday evening, June 9, 2022, at his home.  Born in Calumet, Houghton County, Michigan, he was the son of the late William F. and Martha (Peterie) Parkkila.  He was the husband of the late Rosemary (Terr) Parkkila who passed in 1994, and later the late Mary L. (Alt) Smale-Parkkila who passed in 2016.

Emery was employed as a miner/driller by the former NJ Zinc Company, Friedensville, PA.  He was a member of the Finnish Lutheran Church, Towanda.  An army veteran of WWII, he served his country with honor during the post war occupation with the 18th Infantry, achieving the rank of Pfc.  Emery enjoyed being outdoors, and was an avid hunter.

Survivors: Daughters, Patricia Gruver and fiance, Anthony Jordan of Coopersburg, and Michele wife of Rodney White of Northampton.  Sons, William, James and wife Mary, all of Center Valley.  9 grandchildren.  11 great-grandchildren.  Nieces and nephews.  He was predeceased by daughter, Mary Rose Serrecchia in 1992, daughter-in-law, Jean, son-in-law, Randall Gruver in 2006, 2 sisters, and a brother.

Services: Services are at the convenience of the family.  Private Interment, Holy Ghost Roman Catholic Cemetery, Sioux Street, South Bethlehem.  Arrangements are by Campton Funeral Home, 525 Delaware Avenue, Palmerton, PA 18071.  Online Condolences may be left for the family at: www.schislerfuneralhomes.com .
