Ethel J. Mertz

Ethel J. Mertz, 95 of Whitehall, formerly of Fullerton, passed away on April 5, 2022 at Whitehall Manor, Whitehall, PA. Born August 11, 1926 in Northampton, she was the daughter of the late Floyd and Annie (Handwerk) Benner and wife of the late Reuben S. Mertz.

Ethel worked as a legal secretary for Lehigh County Courthouse for many years before retiring in 2000. Ethel was a member of Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church, Egypt and loved to knit and crochet.

She is survived by sons, Jeffrey A. and wife Kathleen Mertz of Northampton, PA and Barry D. and wife Jackie Mertz of Limerick, ME, five grandchildren, five great grandchildren, and one great, great granddaughter.

The family will receive friends from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM, followed by an 10:00 AM memorial service, all on Thursday April 14, 2022 at Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church, 4331 Main Street, Whitehall, PA 18052 followed by interment in Egypt Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the church in care of the Schisler Funeral Home, 2119 Washington Avenue, Northampton, PA 18067.
