Evelyn Kern

Evelyn Kern, 89 of Northampton, PA. died Sunday, December 11, 2016, at Gracedale Nursing Home in Nazareth. Born July 14, 1927 in New Rochelle, New York, she was the daughter of the late Adolf and Hjordis (Mattiassen) Pettersen. She was the wife of the late Charles G. Kern, Sr. who passed away in June 2004.

Evelyn was last employed by the Northampton Area School District as a Cafeteria worker serving at both the High School and the former Wolf Elementary Building for 11 years before retiring in 1983. Prior to the School she worked at the former Tama Mfg., Northampton for 5 years as a machine operator, and prior to that she worked at the former ACME in the Meat Dept. for 6 years. Evelyn was a member of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of the Holy Trinity, Northampton.

Surviving are sons, Charles G. Kern, Jr. and wife Elaine, and Norman J. Kern and wife Gloria both of Northampton, PA, Ronald A. Kern and wife Cristine of Marlborough, CT; 8 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a 4 Sister and 6 Brothers.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00pm Thursday December 15, 2016 at the Schisler Funeral Home, 2119 Washington Avenue, Northampton, PA, 18067. The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM prior to the services. Interment will follow in be in Cedar Hill Memorial Park, Allentown, PA.
