Francis P. "Butch" Susanin,
of Palmerton, Pennsylvania, died peacefully in his home, on October 16, 2017. He was 81 years of age. He was attended to in his final illness by his family and friends, and by his great friend and significant other, Emily Bradbury.
Francis was the husband of Barbara (Kerman) Susanin, also of Palmerton, who died in 2004. He was the son of Andrew and Anna (Babinchak) Susanin. He graduated in 1958 from Rider University, in Lawrence, New Jersey, and received his Masters in Business Administration from West Virginia University. He was employed as an accounting manager at Kutztown University for 28 years, retiring in 1998. Previously he worked at Texaco, Inc., in Mechanicsburg, PA.
Francis was an active member and trustee of Sts. Peter and Paul Byzantine Catholic Church. An avid golfer, he was a member of Blue Ridge Country Club, where he contributed 32 years of service as a director, treasurer, and financial secretary. He was a "Bumper T. Caring" hospital clown at Lehigh Valley Hospital and was instrumental in securing a large donation of land for the Palmerton Hospital. He loved traveling, visiting Mexico and Europe, and traveling widely in the States.
Survivors:
Sister, Marguerite P. Kelley, of Newtown Square, and by his brothers Edward, of Des Moines, Iowa, Dr. John and his wife Natalie, of Chestnut Hill, PA, and Roger and his wife Helene, of Malvern, PA. He is predeceased by his brothers Andre and Ernest, by his sister Elaine Looby and her husband, Lawrence, and by his brother-in-law, William M. Kelley, and a sister-in-law, Janice. Also surviving Francis are sisters-in-law Catherine H. Susanin and Judith M. Susanin, his brother-in-law William T. Kerman and his wife Ann, and a multitude of nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews. He will be sadly missed.

Divine Liturgy, 11:00 a.m., Friday, October 20, 2017, at Sts. Peter and Paul Byzantine Catholic Church, 715 Church Street, Palmerton, PA 18071. Call, 9:30-11:00 a.m., Friday in the church.
