Frank A. Jurasits, 91 of Nazareth, passed away on Monday, October 26, 2026, at Whitehall Manor, Whitehall.
Born June 1, 1935 in Nazareth, he was the son of the late Frank and Anna (Haklits) Jurasits. He and his wife Patricia A. (Slutter) Jurasits were married on May 4, 1996. He was predeceased by his first wife Shirleyann C. (Bortz) Jurasits.
Frank “Dopey” Jurasits was a dedicated man to his family, friends, and passions in life. He was quick with a smile and cheerful hello when he saw you. Over the years, Frank and his wife Pat would enjoy social functions with friends playing Dominoes or cards, and they truly loved seeing their grandchildren perform. From a variety of sports, to band, vocal concerts, theater, and dance, attending these activities formed a lasting bond. He was most grateful for the opportunity to be a grandfather.
Frank was a truck driver for PPG in Stockertown for many years before retiring. But without a doubt, he was best known for his two passions, playing drums in Polka bands and coaching baseball in Nazareth. Frank played drums for many decades with The Keynotes and The Emil Schanta Band. While playing in the bands, his wife and friends would dance the night away. Frank was the head coach of the Nazareth American Legion team for decades, winning over 400 games, seven divisional championships, and four Northampton County League championships. He was inducted into the American Legion Baseball Hall of Fame in 1989, the Blue Mountain Baseball Hall of Fame in 1997, and the Department of Pennsylvania Sports Hall of Fame in 2004. In his early years, Frank was an excellent athlete, especially as the catcher for many outstanding baseball teams. He began his coaching career in the 1950s with the PALS football organization in Nazareth. Frank’s impact on the local sports community was extensive, influencing all that knew him.
In addition to his wife Pat, Frank is survived by his stepson Keith Siegfried and wife Donna of Edisto Beach, SC and their children Steven, Ryan (wife Sam)), Abby, and Katie, as well as Steven and his wife Allison’s baby Callie; Frank’s stepson David Siegfried and wife Chris of Bethlehem along with their children Jacob and Kendra, as well as Jacob and his wife Jackie’s baby Cassie; and Frank’s stepdaughter Christine Kratzer and husband Noel of Bangor as well as their daughters Blythe and Leyna; he is also survived by nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by sisters, Anna Deutsch, Mary Smith and Theresa Jurasits.
The family will receive family and friends at 10:00 AM on Saturday, November 7th, followed by a memorial service at 11:00 AM. Both will take place at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, 323 Nazareth Pike, Hecktown, Pennsylvania.
