Fred J. Benjamin , 79 of Bushkill Township, passed away on Friday, February 7, 2025, at his home.

Born March 26, 1945 in Bethlehem, he was the son of the late Dr. Raymond G. Benjamin and the late Mary Jean (Druckenmiller)  Benjamin Johnson and step son to the late Dr. Rolf E. Johnson.

Fred graduated from Nazareth High School in 1964. His first job was in a pork rind factory. He loved it because he could eat pork rinds all day and he always smelled like bacon. Fred attended an auto trade school and operated his own auto body repair shop in Nazareth. His knowledge and love of cars led to the restoration of his 65 Corvette and 64 Barracuda. He was also an Antique Car Appraiser.

Fred found his true calling as a first responder. His service to his community was of pure heart. He was a beloved life member of the Bushkill Township Volunteer Fire Company over the past fifty plus years. During his time Fred served as a medic, fire fighter, president, fire police, and lastly, treasurer of the Fireman's Relief Fund. Fred was a graduate of the Allentown Police Academy's 46th Commencement. He served as a Sheriff's Deputy within Northampton County before serving as a Police Officer for Bangor Police Department, retiring as their Criminal Investigator.

In 1968 Fred founded the Easton Area Corvette Club becoming the very first member. He was a member of the Mopar Club, a past member of the Lost Riders Motorcycle Club and life member of the Redball Military Transport.

Fred enjoyed outings on his Harley Davidson Road King, cruises and car shows with his antiques. He enjoyed time spent with his daughter, grandchildren and trips to his fathers hometown of Riverhead Long Island.

As a young man, he participated in hill climbs racing; in his older years, in the Jeep Jamborees. Fred participated in the Nazareth Parade celebrations, carrying veterans in his WWII Jeep. He was an avid sportsman, both fishing and hunting. He was a life member of the NRA. Last but not least, he adored his animals; his Setters, Goldens, Aussies, and his horse, Bart.
