Gene E. Deiter, Sr.

Gene E. Deiter, Sr., 75 of Northampton, PA. died Friday, February 16, 2018, at his home surrounded by his loving family. Born December 12, 1942 in W. Catasauqua, PA, he was the son of the late Elwood R.H. Deiter and the late Maggie R. (Koch) Deiter. He was the husband of Barbara A. (Zellers) with whom he shared 56 years of marriage last April 29, 2017.
Gene was last employed in maintenance and as a mechanic for Georgia Pacific, in Easton, PA. for 9 years before retiring in 2009. Prior to he worked in the same capacity for the former Tarkett Mfg., Whitehall, PA. for 33 years. He was a life member of both the Ontelaunee Rod & Gun Club, New Tripoli, PA. and the Petersville Rod & Gun Club, Bath, PA, he was also a long time member of the National Rifle Assoc.

Surviving along with his wife Barbara are sons, Gene E. Deiter, Jr. of Slatedale, PA and Brian S. Deiter and wife Linda of Hellertown, PA, daughter, Sherry L. wife of Chad Mankos of Slatington, PA, sister, Darlene M. wife of Donald Boyles of Germansville, PA, Daughter-in-law; Shawn Deiter of Bethlehem, PA; 5 grandchildren; 1 great-granddaughter. He was predeceased by son, Marc Deiter in 2005.

A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday February 22, 2018 at Schisler Funeral Home, 2119 Washington Ave. Northampton, PA. 18067. The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Wednesday, February 21, 2018, at the funeral Home. Interment will follow the services in Indianland Cemetery, Cherryville, PA.
