Gene Allen Schleicher

Gene Allen Schleicher of Lehighton, Pennsylvania, died September 6, 2021.  He died peacefully at home with his family by his side.  Gene was the husband of Catherine E. (Babinchak) Schleicher.  Gene was the son of the late Kenneth Schleicher and Celia (Gimbel-Schleicher) Hahn.  He was the stepson of the late Edward Hahn.

A truck driver, he worked for Modern Transport, Allentown, and retired from the Journal of Commerce.  An Air Force Veteran, Korea Era, he served his country with honor and achieved the rank of A/3C.  Gene was a member of Dinkey Evangelical Lutheran Church, Ashfield, Porter Lodge F. and A.M., Catasauqua, Lehigh Consistory-Valley of Allentown, and Irem Shriners, Dallas, Luzerne County.

Survivors: Wife.  Daughters, Catherine Jean wife of the late Al Vanger of Staten Island, NY, Peggy A. wife of Matthew Yeastedt of Berwick.  2 sons, Edward of NC, and Stephen and his wife Sarah of NC.  8 grandchildren, and 3 great-grandchildren.  Sister, Elaine MacDonald of Portland, OR.  Brother, Carl and wife Patricia of Ashfield.  Several nieces and nephews.  He was predeceased by a son, Kenneth, and brother, Burdell.

Services: 11:00 a.m., Friday, September 10, 2021, Campton Funeral Home, 525 Delaware Avenue, Palmerton, PA 18071.  Call, 10:00-11:00 a.m., Friday in the funeral home.  Interment with Military Honors, Dinkey Memorial Cemetery, Ashfield.  Online Condolences may be left for the family at: www.schislerfuneralhomes.com .
