George R. Stanley, 89, of Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, formerly of Palmerton, died Friday, July 8, 2016, at Holy Family Manor in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. Born September 4, 1926 in Palmerton, PA, he was the son of the late S. Joseph Stanley and Pauline (Fuller) Stanley. He was the husband of the late Anne B. (Olivia) who passed in 1985 and the late Frances T. (Sirsky)who passed in 2013.
George was a graduate of Palmerton High School and furthered his education with 2 years of study at the former Allentown Business School. He went to work as a Roll Turner for the former Bethlehem Steel Corporation, for 30 years, retiring in 1987. He also owned and operated Carbon Optical, Lehighton, PA, for 52 years. A former member of the American Legion, in Lehighton, PA, he served his country as a PFC in the Army Air Corp during World War II.
Surviving are a son, George G. Stanley and wife Sally of Baton Rouge, Louisiana; Daughter, Jennifer O. Stanley of Bethlehem, PA. 2 Grandsons, Edward and Eric Stanley.
A Memorial Mass will be Celebrated at 11:30 a.m.* on Friday, July 22, 2016 at Holy Family Manor Chapel, 1200 Spring Street, Bethlehem, PA 18018, followed by interment in Sacred Heart Catholic Church's New Cemetery, Palmerton, PA. Campton Funeral Home, Inc., 525 Delaware Avenue, Palmerton, PA 18071 is in charge of arrangements.
