Gerald S. Butz

Gerald S. Butz , 91 of Bethlehem- Lower Nazareth Twsp., PA passed away August 24, 2023 at his home surrounded by his loving family. Born November 25, 1931 in Lower Nazareth Township, he was the son of the late Floyd Butz and the late Lillian (Nicholas) Butz. Gerald was the husband to Arlene (Shook) Butz, with whom he shared many years of loving marriage until her passing in 2017.

He started his working career at Buzas Greenhouse and spent 32 years with the company.  Gerald then went to work at Moravian Hall Square in the Maintenance department before retiring after 7 years of service in 1997. Gerald was a long time member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church- Hecktown, he dedicated a lot of time to the church and grounds as former custodian for over 20 years. He was a member of The Young at Heart Group, the Helping Hands Group, and the Suburban Dart League all at the church. He was a member of the Appalachian Fiddler Blue Grass Association, and he enjoyed camping.

Survivors: daughter, Susan A. Gordon, of Nazareth PA, son Kenneth G. Butz(Freda)of Lancaster, PA, daughter, Kathryn A. Sigley(Earl) of Bethlehem, PA., daughter, Karen L. Krome, of Wind Gap PA. 6 Grandchildren, Sara Flyte(Brandon), Kenneth Butz ll, Shawn Sigley (Sonya), Robert Krome lll(Ashley), Nicholas Krome (Courtney) and Logan Silfies, Great-Grandchildren Kelsey, Carter, Connor, Emsley, Avery, Elley, Audrey, and Nicholas Jr. and  5 sisters. Gerald was predeceased by 4 sisters, 1 brother, and son in law, Robert Krome Jr.

A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00AM on Wednesday August 30, 2023 at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church Hecktown, 323 Nazareth Pike (Route 191), Bethlehem, PA 18020. The family will receive relatives and friends from 10:00AM up until the time of service, as well as on Tuesday August 29, 2023 from 6:00PM to 8:00PM at the Bartholomew-Schisler Funeral Home, 211 E Center St, Nazareth, PA 18064.  Interment will follow at Hope Cemetery, Hecktown.

Contributions: May be made in his memory to the Church Memorial Fund, or Amedisys Hospice Care, both care of the funeral home.
