Gloria C. Shipe, 90 of Fort Lauderdale, Florida, formerly of Catasauqua, died on Sunday, January 8, 2017 surrounded by her family, at West Side Regional Medical Center, Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Born April 4, 1926 in Allentown, she was the daughter of the late Charles W. and Iva R. (Wolfe) Heimbach and wife of the late William A. Shipe who died on June 20, 2015. She was a telephone operator for Medical Dental, later known as Health Page, Allentown for 21 years before retiring in 1989.
She was a volunteer with AWVS and sold war bonds during WWII. Gloria was a member of the Lehigh Valley All Girls Orchestra and the Lehigh Valley Masquerades String Band. She also was a notary public from 1975 to 1979.
Surviving are sons, Charles C. and wife Karen Kerstetter of Lansdale, PA, Dennis J. and wife Bonnie Kerstetter of Catasauqua, , William A. and wife Marie Shipe of Hellertown, and Glenn W. Shipe of Fort Lauderdale, FL, daughters, Sandra L. wife of Dwight Steidel of Nazareth, PA and Nancy A. Shipe of Emmaus; nine grandchildren; eight great grandchildren. She was predeceased by sisters, Dorothy M. Cunningham and Virginia M. Arnold.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, February 4, 2017 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM followed by a 11:00 AM memorial service both at the mausoleum at Cedar Hill Memorial Park, Allentown. Arrangements are under the care of the Bartholomew-Schisler Funeral Home 211 East Center Street, Nazareth, PA 18064.
In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in care of the funeral home.
