Gordon J. Harter , 76 of Nazareth, PA, formerly of Dorrance Twsp., PA passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 23, 2023, at Kirkland Village in Bethlehem, PA. Born March 4, 1947 in Wilkes Barre, PA, he was the son of the late Calvin J. Harter and the late Martha Betty (Rumpilla) Harter. He was the husband of Jane E. (Becker) Harter with whom he shared 54 years of marriage last October 19, 2022.

Gordon was a 1965 graduate of Crestwood High School who furthered his education earning an Associates Degree in Business from the former Wilkes Barre Business College in 1967. Gordon was last employed as an Insurance Agent for 15 years for the Metropolitan Life Insurance Co., Allentown, PA before retiring in 2014. Prior to he worked for the 2nd National Bank, Nazareth, PA. for 25 years as Vice President of Marketing until it's transition and sale to Fulton Financial at which time he was Branch Manager until its closing. Gordon also served his community as an independent Tax Preparer for over 50 years. He served his country as a member of the Army National Guard retiring as a Master Sargent after 21 1/2 years. A member of Wesley UM Church, Bethlehem, PA. He was a former assistant Scout Master with Boy Scout Troop #74 Bushkill Twsp., PA, He was a member of F.& A. Masons Whitfield Lodge #622, Nazareth, PA and a 32 Degree Mason with Lehigh Consistory, Valley of Allentown. Gordon was also a member of The Rajah Shriner, Reading, PA and a member of Chapter, Council, and Commandry of the Knights Templar, East Stroudsburg, PA. Gordon was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing, competitive pistol shooting, and shot gunning at E. Bath Rod & Gun Club, and others.

Surviving along with his wife Jane are sons, Michael C. Harter (Michelle), Daniel R. Harter (Tina), and Andrew G. Harter (Michelle) Two Sisters, Gail M. Harter, and Darlene Duke (Gregory). 6 grandchildren.

Services: A Masonic service will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday March 30, 2023 at Bartholomew-Schisler Funeral Home, 211 E. Center Street, Nazareth, PA 18064. Family will receive family and friends from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM prior to the service. A Graveside service will be held at 1:30 PM on March 30, 2023 at Emmanuel Cemetery Mountain Top, PA. followed by committal.
