Helen M. Derck

Helen M. Derck, 97 of Northampton-Lehigh Twsp., PA. passed away peacefully on Wednesday September 15, 2021, at Lehigh Valley Hospital Inpatient Hospice Care in Allentown, PA. Born September 14, 1924 in Shamokin, PA, she was the daughter of the late George F. Koppen, Sr. and the late Helen (Neihart) Koppen. She was the wife of the late Blaine A. Derck, Sr. who passed away in June 1988.

Helen worked for the Northampton School District / ARAmark food services as a cafeteria worker for both the Senior High School Cafeteria and the Lehigh Twsp. Elementary School Cafeteria for over 18 years before retiring. She was a longtime member of Bethany Wesleyan Church, Cherryville, PA. where she taught Sunday School to the pre-school children for over 50 years, and was instrumental in assisting with and serving many church meals for functions throughout the years.

She is survived by her son, Blaine A. Derck, Jr. and wife Lynnette of Colorado Springs, CO, sister Mary Thomas of Bloomsburg, PA. Two Grandchildren; Joshua (Sarah) Derck of Houghton, NY and Tiffany (Elliott) Innes of Colorado Springs, CO, Six Great-Grandchildren; Joseph, Micaiah, Shaylee, Nora, Lanae, Miriam. She was predeceased by 2 Sisters; Sybilla Derck, Kathryn Ginter, and 4 Brothers; George, Jr., Joseph, John, and Theodore.

Graveside Service will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday September 25, 2021at Greenwood Cemetery, Northampton - Allen Twsp, PA, followed by a 1:00 PM Memorial Service at Bethany Wesleyan Church, 675 Blue Mountain Drive, Cherryville, PA 18035. Schisler Funeral Home, 2119 Washington Ave. Northampton, PA. 18067, has been entrusted with her care and services.
