Herman G. Smith

Herman G. Smith, 90, of Interchange Road, Trachsville, Towamensing Township, Pennsylvania, died Sunday evening October 23, 2016, at Brookmont Healthcare Center, Effort, Chestnuthill Township. He was the husband of the late Virginia M. (Heffelfinger) Smith who passed in 1997. Born in Palmerton, he was a son of the late Granville and Myrtle (Smith) Smith.
Herman was employed in the pour department of the Bonney Forge Company, Allentown, for 25 years, retiring in 1995. Previously he worked at the former Bethlehem Steel Corporation. Herman attended Holy Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, Palmerton.
Survivors: Daughters, Gail wife of Donald Evans of Bethlehem, Penny M. wife of Dennis Merkel of Trachsville. 2 grandchildren, Andrew, and Elizabeth. 5 great-grandchildren. Brother, Vernon and Sandy of Walnutport. Several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by brothers, Carl and Robert.
Services are private graveside. Interment, Cedar Hill Memorial Park, Airport Road, Allentown, PA. Arrangements are by Campton Funeral Home, Inc., 525 Delaware Avenue, Palmerton, PA 18071.
