Hope C. Geary

Hope C. Geary of Allentown, PA passed away peacefully on Saturday morning, August 22, 2026 at Rittenhouse Village at Lehigh Valley in Allentown, PA. Born February 9, 1929 in Northampton, PA, she was the daughter of the late Carl Koch and the late Hilda (Rodenbach) Koch. She was the wife of the late Albert B. Geary.

Hope was a 1946 graduate of Northampton Area Senior High School. She was a pre-school teacher at Hope Church in Allentown for 25 years, and then became the Pre-school Program Director at the Allentown YMCA for 10 years before retiring. Hope was a longtime member of Frieden's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Center Valley, as well as a former member of the Lehigh Valley Chapter of the Reserve Officer Association Ladies. She was a very active volunteer at the Lehigh Valley Literacy Council, and was active for years with the Lehigh County Meals on Wheels as both a consultant and a volunteer.

Hope is survived by her son, Douglas Geary and wife Joan of Old Hickory, TN, and daughter, Melody DiStefano and husband Frank of Macungie, PA; sister, Dawn Fisher of Bethlehem, PA; four grandchildren: Stephanie, Kimberly, Jennifer, and Alvito; and a great-grandson, Grant.

A funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday August 28, 2026 at Schisler Funeral Home, 2119 Washington Ave. Northampton, PA 18067. Family and friends may call from 9:00 AM until the time of service. Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery, Northampton, PA.
