Irene M. Rute

Irene M. (Bittner) Rute , 96, of Washington Avenue, Northampton, died peacefully Wednesday evening, October 30, 2024, at Fellowship Community, Whitehall. She was the wife of Walter Rute since Sept 8, 1951. Born in Weaversville, Allen Twp, she was a daughter of the the late Charles F.O. and Jennie E. (Rodgers) Bittner.

Irene was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and homemaker. Years ago she was employed at the former D and D Shirt Co., Northampton, and the former Cigar Manufacturing Co., Allentown. A member of Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, Northampton, she enjoyed volunteering on the church Altar Guild. Irene was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Rose Croix Chapter. She enjoyed crosswords, reading, arts and crafts, knitting, crocheting, ceramics, and the occasional bus trip.

Survivors: husband. daughters, Bonnie wife of Jeffrey Fink of Whitehall, and Peggy Geiger of Northampton,. son, Warren and wife Linda of Bethlehem. 3 grandchildren, Jennie, Lauren, and Alexis. several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by sisters, Mazie Dieter, and Betty Worman, brothers, Raymond, Paul, Elwood, Harold, Edward, and Clarence.
